In general terms, acupuncture utilizes the human body’s innate ability to try to heal itself by tapping into specific points of its bio-electricity supply. By stimulating exact points along nerve pathways throughout the body, very specific areas causing health issues can be targeted effectively, thus restoring the body to a natural, healthy balance. These acu-points all have specific functions when stimulated and can help reduce pain and inflammation, clear stress hormones and boost energy levels. Most people who receive acupuncture, feel calm, centered, relaxed and experience a general feeling of well being after treatment.
The style of acupuncture I have developed, combines techniques from Japanese and Chinese acupuncture and incorporates elements of massage to provide a wholistic, effective treatment. The technique is very gentle in approach using superfine needles that are virtually never felt by the patient. I’ve had many initially needle phobic patients that have benefited and enjoyed the treatment as there is no pain at all associated to the acupuncture.
This technique has proven to be a viable, effective natural alternative to more invasive chemical or surgical cosmetic procedures such as botox. Extra fine needles are used on specific points around the face to reduce fine lines/wrinkles, puffiness and help tone the skin. I also incorporate massage and rose hip oil into the treatment to further increase bloodflow and stimulate the skin. A dermaroller can also be used by you at home to consolidate the treatment. Cosmetic acupuncture is used by many celebrities such as Madonna and Gwyneth Paltrow.
